All of our courses are NZQA Accredited and Student Loan funded, with a student allowance available throughout the course. Many of our students have gone on to work overseas in places such as Cairns, Honduras and Fiji.

Below is an outline as to how the Adventure Education and Action Adventure course enquires are handled with Adventure Education Wellington:


1. You register your interest with Adventure Education Wellington

2. We get sent your contact details

3. We contact you by phone to set up an interview

4. At the interview we'll have some discussion and we'll hand out some information  

5. You complete and pass a dive medical

6. Set up an enrolment time - you must either bring the original or certified copies of the required documentation comprising of:


• Birth certificate or passport

• IRD number

• Bank account details

• a completed medical from your GP


7. After enrollment, you're on the course!


Full time Advanced Sea Adventurer (ASA) Levels: 2-3, total NZQA Credits: 75

Cost: NZ$6,373 - student loans are available


Duration: full-time for 15 weeks (part-time options available)

Learn to scuba dive (Open Water certified) and then complete 7 additional dive specialties:

- Night

- Deep

- Navigation

- Boat

- Search & Recovery

- Shore Diving

- Rescue Diver


You will also attain the following certifications:

- 1st Aid Provider

- Oxygen Provider 


 All dive gear is provided and you will attain 24 logged dives.


Full Time Master Diver (MD) RPL Levels: 2-5, total NZQA credits: 100

Build on your skills attained from the ASA course, and turn from a Diver to a Diving Leader:

- Hunt & Collect specialty

- Wreck Diver specialty

- Tank Filler certification

- Physics

- Assist in Adventure-based learning activities

- Marine Identification Specialty


All scuba equipment is provided. You will complete an additional 36 logged dives (to total 60 by the end of the course in conjunction with the ASA).


Professional Dive Instructor (PDI) and Advanced Open Water Instructor Levels: 3-6, total NZQA credits: 65

This will take you from an Assistant Instructor/Dive Controller to Open water Instructor, who is certified to teach people how to scuba dive.  Then you will learn how to deliver and teach all 6 specialties plus Rescue Diver as taught in the ASA course, with you as the Advanced Open Water Instructor.  In addition, you will be certified in teaching/instructing the following specialties:

- Computer

- Marine Identification


This is an extremely demanding course in that the student must take into consideration all of the safety aspects of teaching scuba, and overall safety in the ocean.  Scuba equipment is provided, and a total of 100 logged dives are required by the end of the course.
